VAN SPECIALS
Vancouver Special is a specific term referring to houses that were built in a particular style architerchturally speaking from 1965 to 1985 respectively. They are characterized by their low pitched roofs, balconies at the front of the house and an unmistakable "box-like" structure. They have similar floor plans with the main living area on the upper floor and alternate bedrooms on the lower floor, making them ideal for secondary suites. From a builder's point of view, Van Special's have a very sturdy design to build while still being inexpensive in materials and time.
